Why TiegeClear ™?
When I stepped into my role as Chief Product Officer at Tiege Hanley, my first order of business was to conduct an in-depth evaluation of our existing product lineup. Tiege was already offering incredible products, but I knew there would be opportunities for improvement. It was during this comprehensive review that the TiegeClear™ Acne Systems were conceived. My vision was to develop a routine firmly rooted in science that addressed the distinct challenges faced by those with acne-prone skin. While our original ACNE product was effective, there was an obvious opportunity to elevate it further, providing a more holistic and targeted solution for achieving clear, healthy skin.
The original approach for the Tiege Acne Systems was to incorporate an ACNE cream into our existing Skin Care System. The goal of the reformulation was to create a fully dedicated system that works synergistically through multiple steps, tackling acne from various angles while also promoting overall skin health. But we also wanted to specifically focus on solving this problem for men’s skin.
What Triggers Acne in Men?
Men’s acne can be worse due to their skin having larger pores and being thicker, oiler, and more prone to irritation from shaving. Acne in men can be triggered by several factors, primarily due to hormonal differences, especially elevated levels of testosterone. Testosterone increases oil production in the skin, which can clog pores and lead to breakouts.
Other common triggers include:
- Excess Oil Production: Hormonal imbalances can cause overproduction of oil, clogging pores.
- Stress: Physical and emotional stress can trigger breakouts by causing hormonal fluctuations.
- Diet: Foods high in sugar and dairy can contribute to acne.
- Shaving: Improper shaving techniques or dull razors can cause irritation and lead to acne, especially on the jawline and neck.
- Not taking care of your Skin: Not cleansing regularly can lead to clogged pores and inflammation.
How will TiegeClear ™ get rid of Acne for Men?
Understanding the problems specific to men’s skin led to the creation of our TiegeClear™ Acne Essentials System, comprised of SAL ACID WASH, GLYCOLIC PADS, and ACNE SERUM. Each product plays a specific role in the routine while complementing one another to deliver superior results.
The first step in the routine, the SAL ACID WASH, was developed to be a gentle yet highly effective cleanser for acne-prone skin. We recognized that one of the most important factors in treating acne is keeping pores clear of dirt and excess oil. To achieve this, we incorporated Salicylic Acid—a well-known beta-hydroxy acid (BHA)—which penetrates deeply into pores to break down oil and prevent blockages that cause acne. Pro-Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E were added to the formula to help regulate oil production and soothe the skin, reducing inflammation and irritation. We also added essential oils like Lavender and Eucalyptus to provide further calming and astringent benefits, helping to treat the skin without compromising its natural moisture barrier.
Next, we focused on exfoliation with our GLYCOLIC PADS, a critical step in the TiegeClear™ routine. Exfoliation is critical for removing dead skin cells that can clog pores and lead to breakouts. These pads contain a blend of Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, and Lactic Acid, which work together to dissolve dead skin cells on the surface and penetrate deep into your pores to remove excess sebum and grime. The combination of alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) and BHAs ensures that the skin is gently yet effectively exfoliated. This balance is crucial, as over-exfoliation can lead to skin damage, while under-exfoliation leaves impurities behind. To offset the acids' potential to irritate, we incorporated Oat Bran Extract and Allantoin, which are known for their soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. This ensures that your skin remains calm, even with daily use.
The final product in the system, the ACNE SERUM, is a reformulation of our original ACNE cream. This leave on product is where we target the root causes of acne—bacteria, inflammation, and skin imbalance. The key active ingredient, yet again, is Salicylic Acid, which continues its work to unclog pores, but in the serum, it's paired with Granactive Acne, a botanical complex containing an antimicrobial peptide that enhances Salicylic Acid's acne-fighting power. The addition of Tea Tree Oil offers natural antibacterial properties to further combat acne-causing bacteria. In terms of soothing and healing, we included Aloe Vera, Squalane, and Oat Beta Glucan, all of which calm redness and irritation, while simultaneously supporting your skin's barrier to prevent future breakouts.
We designed the TiegeClear™ Acne Essentials System to be more than just an acne treatment; we wanted it to actively improve the overall health and appearance of the skin. By addressing inflammation, hydration, and bacterial control, the system promotes a long-term solution to clear, blemish-free skin.
As we developed the system, we recognized that some of our existing products could elevate it even further. That’s why we integrated our AM Moisturizer to create the TiegeClear™ Acne Advanced System, and for a more comprehensive routine, we added both the AM Moisturizer and CLAY MASK to create the TiegeClear™ Acne Complete System.
The AM Moisturizer not only hydrates the skin but also provides essential sun protection with SPF 20, making it a critical addition for users exposed to daily environmental stressors. It regulates oil production while shielding the skin from harmful UV rays, which can exacerbate acne. The CLAY MASK, used once weekly, offers a deep cleanse, drawing out impurities with Kaolin Clay and Charcoal to detoxify the skin without stripping away its natural moisture. This added layer of care helps maintain a balanced, clear complexion, while refining pores and reducing inflammation. Together, these products enhance the TiegeClear™ Acne System’s effectiveness, offering a complete routine for clear, blemish-free skin.
What Should Your Daily Routine be for Acne?
We’ve got the science of the routine down, but what does an effective daily routine look like? For acne-prone skin, the focus is on cleansing, exfoliation, hydration, and treatment:
Morning:

Cleanse: Start by washing your face with a gentle, sulfate-free cleanser like SAL ACID WASH to remove excess oil and dirt.

- Sun Protection: Apply a lightweight moisturizer with SPF, like the AM Moisturizer, to hydrate and protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays.
Evening:

Optional Weekly Treatment: Once a week, use a CLAY MASK to detoxify and deeply cleanse your skin, helping to prevent excess oil buildup and refine pores.

Cleanse: Wash again with SAL ACID WASH to remove the dirt and oil accumulated throughout the day.
- Treat: Apply ACNE SERUM, relax and head to bed.
